Kevin Costner Celebrates Berlin Premiere of His Latest Western Epic

Fans clad in cowboy attire gathered to honor Hollywood icon Kevin Costner, who graced Berlin for the German premiere of his new film, Horizon – An American Saga. This film marks Costner’s return to directing after a 21-year hiatus, presenting a sweeping four-part Western saga.

The first installment, spanning three hours, will debut in German cinemas on August 22. Set against the backdrop of 1861 New Mexico, Horizon explores the tumultuous period of white settlers encroaching on Apache lands, with the Apache people fiercely resisting the invasion. The film stars Costner alongside Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington.

Costner’s previous directorial venture into the Western genre, Dances with Wolves (1990), earned him seven Oscars. His last Western directorial effort was Open Range in 2003. Recently, Costner has gained acclaim for his role in the hit Western series Yellowstone created by Taylor Sheridan.

With Horizon, Costner takes a bold leap. He has been developing the film concept for over 30 years but faced numerous production hurdles. After several failed attempts to secure financing, he invested his own money to bring his vision to life. In a personal touch, Costner even named his son Hayes after a character in the film.

The first chapter of Horizon – An American Saga delves into the American frontier, depicting the era of settlers moving into Apache territories. Costner, renowned for his impactful Western films, embraces the challenge of self-financing this ambitious project, reflecting his long-standing commitment to the genre.
