“Tom Selleck Concerned About Losing Ranch if CBS Drama Ends”

Tom Selleck Fears Losing Ranch If He Can’t Find Work After ‘Blue Bloods’ Ends

Tom Selleck, known for his role as Frank Reagan on CBS’s “Blue Bloods,” has expressed concern about potentially losing his cherished 63-acre ranch in California if he is unable to find work following the show’s conclusion. At 79 years old, Selleck has portrayed the New York City Police Commissioner for 14 years, but with the series nearing its end due to financial issues, the future of his beloved ranch is at risk.

In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Selleck discussed his financial concerns against the stunning backdrop of his Ventura County ranch. Despite being financially secure, he acknowledged that maintaining a large property like his ranch would require ongoing income. “You know, hopefully, I keep working enough to hold onto the place,” he told CBS correspondent Tracy Smith. When asked if stopping work would be a problem, Selleck responded, “That’s always an issue. If I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

Selleck’s ranch, previously owned by singer Dean Martin, was acquired in 1988 after the end of “Magnum PI.” It also served as a working avocado farm until a drought ruined its crop. Reflecting on his decision to leave “Magnum PI” and focus on family, Selleck shared with Closer Weekly in 2018 that his ranch has been essential in achieving a work-life balance.

As “Blue Bloods” approaches its final episodes, Selleck remains hopeful for future work opportunities, maintaining the mindset that each job could be his last. The show’s penultimate episode before the midseason finale airs on May 10, 2024. The final episodes are expected to air in December, wrapping up the series and, possibly, Selleck’s time as Frank Reagan.
