“CBS’s ‘Blue Bloods’ Faces Cancellation but Franchise Extension Is Planned”

Blue Bloods fans, stay hopeful.

At a Paramount stockholders meeting on June 4, co-CEO Brian Robbins revealed plans for “new franchise extensions” for several Paramount TV shows, including Blue Bloods. This announcement comes six months after CBS declared that the upcoming season 14 would be the series’ final chapter.

CBS Entertainment and CBS Studios praised the show as a “beloved part of CBS’ legacy,” and expressed gratitude to Leonard Goldberg for creating the series and to Tom Selleck and the cast for their contributions. Selleck, who has portrayed Frank Reagan since the show’s inception, called it an “honor and a privilege” to be part of a series that highlights the significance of family and honors those who protect and serve New York City.

Reports last year indicated the cast took a pay cut for the final season, with Donnie Wahlberg expressing that fans would have been “outraged” if the show hadn’t been renewed. Despite rumors about the show’s end, Wahlberg hinted at potential future developments, and Selleck remained hopeful, believing CBS might reconsider their decision.
