“New Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Trailer Spotlights Kevin Costner—With a Twist”

Despite Kevin Costner’s departure from Yellowstone, he’s still featured in the trailer for the show’s upcoming (and possibly final) season.

The new clip for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 prominently showcases footage of Costner, who left the series after a high-profile dispute to focus on his own project, the critically panned Horizon: An American Saga. To promote the upcoming season while keeping Costner’s iconic role visible, the trailer uses past footage of him as John Dutton from Yellowstone Season 2. In the brief clip, Costner’s Dutton ominously states, “Legacy. You build something worth having. Someone’s gonna try to take it,” hinting at potential drama as reports suggest Yellowstone might continue even after his exit.

The trailer also features Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler and Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton, who both make appearances. Meanwhile, Wes Bentley’s Jamie Dutton is shown in a tense moment, frantically trying to destroy documents amidst an impending FBI raid.

There’s no sign of a funeral or farewell for Costner’s character in the trailer, so it’s unclear how John Dutton will be written out of the show. Reports confirm Costner did not participate in filming for Season 5 Part 2, a fact he himself confirmed in a June 20 social media post, expressing his regret at not returning but reaffirming his appreciation for his time on the show.

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 premieres on November 10, 2024. While this season may be the series’ last, the Yellowstone franchise will continue with new projects, including The Madison, featuring Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox.
