Tom Selleck Opens Up About His Concerns Over Blue Bloods Cancellation

Tom Selleck Reveals His Deep Concerns About Blue Bloods Cancellation

Saying goodbye to a beloved show after over a decade can be emotionally taxing. We often develop a strong bond with the characters, making their departure feel like losing a part of our extended family.

Such is the case with CBS’s Blue Bloods, a cherished police procedural that has been captivating audiences since 2010. Centered around the Reagan family, with Tom Selleck as the authoritative New York City police commissioner Frank Reagan, the show has become a staple in many homes.

The announcement of Blue Bloods’ cancellation after 14 successful seasons hit hard. Fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with one Redditor lamenting, “My mother will probably sell the TV now. First Criminal Minds, now this. There aren’t enough NCIS, FBI, or Chicago shows to fill this void.”

It appears the cast shares the fans’ grief. Tom Selleck, a staunch advocate for the show, has been vocal about his desire for CBS to reconsider, arguing that Blue Bloods still has many stories left to tell. His dedication is commendable, but there’s more to his concern than meets the eye.

In a recent CBS Sunday Morning interview, Selleck revealed that the cancellation of Blue Bloods could have significant financial repercussions for him. The actor, who is also known for his 63-acre ranch in Ventura County, California—a property he purchased in 1988 after leaving Magnum, P.I.—is worried about the impact on his finances. The ranch, once an avocado farm, has been undergoing rebuilding efforts following a drought.

Despite his substantial earnings of around $200,000 per episode and a reported net worth of $45 million, Selleck expressed concerns about keeping up with his bills if the show ends. Whether or not this was a jest, it underscores his deep commitment to the series.

Selleck has no plans to retire from acting and remains hopeful that CBS might change its mind and extend the show. For now, Blue Bloods is available for streaming on Hulu. As the show enters its final season, fans should catch it while they can.
