“What’s Next for Tom Selleck After ‘Blue Bloods’? Exploring His Future Projects and Career Path”

As the final episode of Blue Bloods airs later this year, Tom Selleck will particularly miss the camaraderie of the cast and crew. “Our dinner party scenes feel like a reunion with friends,” Tom shares. He describes his experience portraying Police Commissioner Frank Reagan as a “blessing,” emphasizing that the show’s cast has become a second family. “Sometimes it’s hard for the directors to get us to focus. We get the work done, but we also have a lot of fun, joking around and catching up.”

After nearly 60 years in the industry, Tom recognizes Blue Bloods as a rare opportunity. “I never imagined I’d be fortunate enough to be part of a show with such a long run,” admits the 78-year-old actor. “While it’s bittersweet to see it end, I’m also excited about what’s ahead. It’s been a privilege to be on a show that honors the people who protect and serve New York City and highlights the value of family.”

Unlike the conclusion of his iconic series Magnum, P.I., which aired from 1980 to 1988 and ended with him pulling the plug, Tom isn’t the one deciding the end of Blue Bloods. “CBS made the final call, influenced by budget cuts, but Tom feels the timing is right,” reveals an insider. Once the series wraps up next fall, Tom plans to enjoy more time on his 65-acre ranch near Ventura, California, formerly owned by Dean Martin. There, he cultivates avocados and looks forward to relaxing, walking the property, and spending quality time with his wife and family. “He’s eager to unwind on his ranch, enjoy peaceful moments, and travel a bit,” the insider adds.

Family First

Tom’s wife, Jillie Mack, 66, is his constant source of joy. “Jillie has this effervescent quality that lights up any room,” says Tom, who describes himself as the more reserved partner in their relationship. “Tom and Jillie are perfectly content with simple pleasures like cooking, taking long walks, and enjoying each other’s company,” notes the insider.

Jillie takes charge of organizing social outings, travel plans, and attending events like LA Kings hockey games, which Tom loves. “He adores Jillie and trusts her to handle their schedules,” the insider reveals. “Tom is excited about having more free time to spend with her.”

The couple also maintains a close bond with their daughter, Hannah, 35, an accomplished equestrian. “Tom is very proud of Hannah’s achievements in competitive horse jumping,” says the insider. “He hopes she finds love and starts a family but isn’t the type to pressure her.”

Reflecting on His Journey

Tom’s upcoming memoir, You Never Know, scheduled for release on May 7, offers a personal look at his life in Hollywood. “It’s not a scandalous tell-all but a reflection on his experiences, the stars he’s met, and the lessons learned,” says the insider.

Tom fondly recalls calling Frank Sinatra in 1987 to invite him for a guest role on Magnum, P.I. “Frank agreed to do it for free, just covering expenses,” Tom remembers. “That was his last acting role, and I’m proud he was part of our show.”

The memoir will also include humorous anecdotes about career setbacks, like turning down the role of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark due to his Magnum contract. “I hope the book is funny because I don’t take myself too seriously,” Tom says. “A sense of humor is essential for a long career, as is having fun with your work.”

Although Tom is eager for a quieter life, he’s not ruling out future projects entirely. “Tom still loves acting but isn’t actively seeking work,” the insider explains. “However, if an exciting opportunity arises, he would consider it. He’s even open to reprising his role as Frank Reagan in a Blue Bloods movie if the script is compelling.”
