“Tom Selleck’s ‘Blue Bloods’ Cast Marks His 79th Birthday with the Ultimate Cake Celebration”

The first half of the final season of “Blue Bloods” will premiere in February 2024.

Tom Selleck recently celebrated his 79th birthday surrounded by his “Blue Bloods” co-stars, who showered him with love and appreciation. On Instagram, Abigail Hawk, who plays Detective Abigail Baker, shared a group photo with co-stars Robert Clohessy (Lieutenant Sidney Gormley) and Gregory Jbara (Garrett Moore). The photo featured the trio celebrating around a stunning blue birthday cake decorated with a police hat, badge, and the New York City skyline. Hawk captioned the image, “Happiest birthday, boss. We’re the luckiest! #bluebloods #thedreamteam #magnumpi #commissionerreagan.”

Bridget Moynahan, who portrays ADA Erin Reagan, also posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, praising Selleck as the “best TV Dad there is.” Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Detective Danny Reagan, shared a warm birthday message, referring to Selleck as his “dear friend and TV dad.” The official “Blue Bloods” Instagram account also joined in the celebration, posting a solo shot of Selleck in character as NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, with the caption, “Happy birthday to the legend, Tom Selleck.”

The birthday celebrations come as “Blue Bloods” heads into its 14th and final season. The series, which has been a fixture of CBS’ Friday night lineup since its debut in September 2010, will split its final season into two parts. The first part is set to air in February 2024, with the second half scheduled for the fall. The show will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.

The decision to end the series was announced last November, with cast members reportedly agreeing to a 25 percent pay cut to help manage production costs and ensure the show’s continuation through its final season. “Blue Bloods” is the second-longest-running scripted series on CBS, following “NCIS.” Amy Reisenbach and David Stapf, presidents of CBS Entertainment and CBS Studios, reflected on the show’s significant impact, stating, “Blue Bloods will forever be a beloved part of CBS’ legacy. It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”
