“Legendary Actor Fights to Save Hit Show: ‘The Entire Cast is Ready to Return'”

Actor Tom Selleck is holding out hope that his hit TV series, “Blue Bloods,” will extend beyond its scheduled end after Season 14, despite the network’s plans to conclude it.

At 79, Selleck stars as New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on the CBS show, portraying the head of the NYPD and the central figure in a strong-willed family. The final season is set to air in two parts—one in spring and the other in fall 2024, with the series finale planned for December.

Although the show’s cancellation seems imminent, Selleck has expressed resistance to this decision, as reported by CBS News. In a recent interview, Selleck voiced his hope that CBS might reconsider their choice.

“I believe CBS will eventually see reason,” he stated. “We’re currently the third-highest scripted show on broadcast television, consistently leading our time slot. The entire cast is eager to return. We’re still delivering quality episodes and maintaining our strong position.”

When not working, Selleck enjoys his time at his Ventura County, California, ranch—a property he acquired in 1988 following his departure from “Magnum, P.I.” He expressed a desire to continue working to maintain his property.

“Is that a concern? Yes, it is,” Selleck acknowledged when asked if stopping work could affect his ability to keep the ranch. “While I’m financially secure, sustaining a 63-acre ranch requires ongoing work.”

Regardless of the show’s future, Selleck has no intention of retiring soon. “I hold a deep respect for what I call ‘the work,’ and I truly enjoy it,” he said. “I plan to keep working and pursuing my passion for as long as I can.”
