“Tom Selleck’s Insightful Remarks on the Future of Blue Bloods”

CBS’s decision to cancel Blue Bloods has deeply impacted the cast and crew. On this month’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan openly discussed the show’s ‘heartbreaking’ conclusion, with Tom Selleck also sharing his thoughts on the matter. Asked about his feelings regarding Blue Bloods ending, Tom, 79, expressed his disappointment, saying, “CBS will find that a lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye. The show is more popular than ever, and I believe the numbers will rise with the increased interest this year. We certainly have more ideas.”

Tom, who is not yet ready to retire, added, “I’m not counting the days to move on to something else. I love the work. The hours can be tougher because of my age, but I’m eager to continue working for as long as they’ll have me.” His sentiments are shared by his co-stars. In April, Bridget Moynahan told Drew Barrymore, “Everyone is really upset and sad, but also content and fulfilled?” Donnie Wahlberg responded with, “More upset and sad.”

Bridget further elaborated, “It’s really about saying goodbye to the people behind the characters. We’ve formed such a close-knit family on set, with many crew members who have been with us for 14 years. We’ve experienced so many life events together — weddings, births, and losses.”

When the cancellation news broke last November, Tom Selleck was quick to release a statement.

“For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that celebrates those who protect and serve New York City while highlighting the importance of family,” he said. “Working with such incredible actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true. I am grateful to have been part of this extraordinary team for over 275 episodes. We thank CBS Studios, CBS Network, and especially our fans who joined us every Friday night.”

According to Deadline, Blue Bloods will conclude with its 14th season. The final season will be split into two parts, with the first ten episodes airing this spring and the final eight set to premiere in the fall.
