“Tom Selleck Urges CBS to Reconsider and Continue ‘Blue Bloods'”

After 14 seasons on Blue Bloods, Tom Selleck is voicing his disagreement with CBS’s decision to cancel the beloved police procedural. In November 2023, the network announced that the show would end with its 14th season, which will be divided into two parts. Despite this, Selleck, 79, expressed hope that CBS might reconsider their choice.

“We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast,” Selleck told CBS News. “We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

Selleck’s sentiments are shared by his co-stars. In April, Bridget Moynahan and Donnie Wahlberg spoke about their disappointment with the cancellation during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Moynahan, 52, reflected on the close-knit nature of the cast and crew, saying, “I think it’s more saying goodbye to the people behind the characters. We’ve created such a family on set with each other and the crew — most of the crew’s been with us for 14 years, so we’ve been through a lot of weddings, births, deaths, and everything. We’ve been through it all with each other.”

When the series was renewed for a 14th season in March 2023, Wahlberg expressed concerns about the possibility of the show ending without a proper resolution. “I love Blue Bloods, and I think if there weren’t a season 14, the loyal fans of the show would be very, very outraged,” he said. “They’re part of the Reagan family. The audience is the extended family.”

Reports from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter at the time revealed that the renewal was made possible by the entire cast and production team agreeing to take a 25 percent pay cut to cover production costs.
