“Tom Selleck Remains Optimistic CBS Will Revive Blue Bloods”

Tom Selleck Hopes CBS Will Renew Blue Bloods After 14 Successful Years

Tom Selleck is holding out hope that CBS will bring his hit series, Blue Bloods, back for another season. The long-running show, which has been a staple on TV for 14 years, features Selleck as the head of the NYPD and patriarch of a close-knit family. As the third-highest rated scripted program on broadcast TV, Blue Bloods continues to draw significant viewership and remains a fan favorite.

In a recent interview with CBS News, Selleck expressed optimism about the show’s future. “I will continue to believe that CBS will come to their senses,” he said. “We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast, winning the night. All the cast wants to return, and we’re still producing strong episodes. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

The decision to renew or cancel shows is never easy, and Blue Bloods isn’t the only program facing uncertainty. Other shows like CSI: Vegas, NCIS: Hawaii, and So Help Me Todd were not renewed, leaving fans disappointed. CBS Chief George Cheeks and Amy Reisenbach addressed the difficult decisions, attributing them to an “embarrassment of riches” in their lineup.

Reisenbach acknowledged the tough choices involved, noting, “Everything came back very strong, and we have a cohesive schedule and flow.” While this doesn’t ease the sting for fans of canceled shows, there’s still hope for some of them. Cheeks and Reisenbach hinted that there could be potential for revivals on Paramount+, especially for franchises like CSI, which remains a significant part of CBS’s legacy.

“Every show is different,” Cheeks said, reflecting on the varied decisions. “We had a wonderful experience with So Help Me Todd, and it was heartbreaking to end it.” Meanwhile, Reisenbach remains optimistic about the CSI franchise, suggesting that discussions for its future are ongoing.
