Kevin Costner Remains Committed to Producing a Third ‘Horizon’ Film: “I’m Gonna Make It”

Regardless of your opinion on “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1,” it’s undeniable that Kevin Costner demonstrated remarkable determination by investing millions of his own money to bring the film to life. Despite his bold gamble, the film struggled at the box office, and the sequel, which was already completed, has been removed from the release schedule. However, Costner remains resolute in his commitment to complete the trilogy.

At the Venice Film Festival, where ‘Horizon 1’ had its theatrical release and ‘Chapter 2’ premiered, Costner discussed his journey with the project. He revealed that the decision to pull ‘Chapter 2’ from the release calendar was made by the studio. His initial plan was to release the films roughly six to seven months apart, which would have allowed him to attend the festival as he had envisioned.

Costner acknowledges that finding funding for the final two installments will be challenging, particularly given the underwhelming performance of the first film. Despite the hurdles, he remains hopeful. “I have to hurry and not let the rock fall back downhill,” Costner said. “I’ve gotta go put my hands on it again and start to push it up. It’s a rope that I cannot let go of. I don’t know how I’m gonna make 3 right now, but I’m gonna make it.”

If securing financing for the third film proves too difficult, combining the story of ‘Chapter 4’ into ‘Chapter 3’ might be a viable option to ensure the narrative is completed. For now, there is no set release date for “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2.”
