“Blue Bloods Announces Airdate for Final Episodes – What to Expect”

The End of an Era: CBS Announces Airdate for Final Episodes of Blue Bloods

CBS has officially confirmed that the final episodes of Blue Bloods will begin airing on Friday, October 18, at 10 p.m. The show, which has been a staple on the network since 2010, will close out with its final eight episodes. Fans will soon have to say goodbye to the Reagan family as the series draws to a close.

The announcement of the show’s cancellation came in November 2023, leaving fans and cast members alike expressing their disappointment. Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, and Bridget Moynahan have all shared their thoughts on the end of the series.

Tom Selleck has been particularly vocal about his frustration. In an interview with TV Insider, Selleck expressed his belief that the show’s popularity is still strong, saying, “CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it. The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas.” At 79, Selleck emphasized his passion for the role and his reluctance to retire, stating, “I’m not counting the days so I can do something else. I love the work.”

In a hopeful tone, Selleck even suggested that CBS might reconsider their decision. “We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff,” he said.

Donnie Wahlberg also shared his emotions as filming concluded in June. Posting a heartfelt video from the set, he reflected on the end of the series, writing, “I’ve taken this walk thousands of times in 14 years, and it was a teary final walk from the Blue Bloods dinner scene last week. More so than I could have ever imagined. Of course, some sad tears — but mostly tears of immense humility. It’s been a wonderful adventure, and I’m so thankful.”

As reports of a potential spin-off surfaced following the cancellation, CBS Studios President David Stapf provided an update, though specifics about any new projects remain to be seen.
