“Tom Selleck Reflects on Dancing with Princess Diana in His New Memoir”
Tom Selleck has recently revealed intriguing details about a memorable dinner and dance with the late Princess Diana in his new memoir.
In You Never Know, his latest biography, the Blue Bloods star reminisces about a state dinner from 40 years ago and his nervous anticipation of meeting royalty.
Selleck describes Princess Diana as “charming, graceful, and beautiful,” and praises Prince Charles for his ability to make everyone feel important during their interactions.
At the dinner, which featured guests like the Reagans, Selleck recounts how he and Diana shared a dance in the East Room. Later, a woman approached him with a request: “Mr. Travolta and the princess are dancing together again. We can’t have that.”
She suggested that Selleck should step in to avoid any rumors. Though initially hesitant, Selleck agreed and danced with Diana. He noted, “Princess Diana was lovely and displayed a shy quality despite her conversational expertise.”
Selleck admitted, “She seemed to be having the time of her life. I was relieved she did most of the talking, as I wasn’t at my best as a conversationalist.”
You Never Know is now available in bookstores.
