The abrupt end to John Dutton’s storyline in the mid-season finale left fans expecting Costner to return for the final six episodes to provide closure. Instead, Costner left to focus on his ambitious film project Horizon, which struggled at the box office, grossing only $34 million worldwide against a $100 million budget. The film’s poor performance led to its removal from theaters and a delay in its sequel’s release. Given this, it’s challenging to see how Yellowstone can effectively conclude without Costner.
Can Yellowstone Thrive Without Costner?
The lack of a proper resolution for John Dutton’s character has led to diminished trust among fans regarding the series’ ability to wrap up other storylines satisfactorily.
