“Kevin Costner Hints at Possible Return to ‘Yellowstone’ After Dramatic Departure”
Kevin Costner isn’t ready to completely close the door on his role in Yellowstone despite stepping away from the second half of its fifth and final season.
Last week, the Horizon actor confirmed his exit from the series, which left many wondering about the future of his character, John Dutton.
In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, Costner hinted at the possibility of returning to the show if he feels that “the story is going the right way.” He elaborated on his decision, explaining that balancing his commitments to both Yellowstone and Horizon led to scheduling conflicts. “I wanted to work more than once a year and it was important that I made room for Yellowstone and made room for Horizon,” he said. “But people ran through deadlines. They were busy; they had a lot to do.”
Costner emphasized that Yellowstone was his top priority, but acknowledged that fulfilling commitments sometimes means accepting challenging circumstances. He also addressed accusations from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, who had suggested that Costner’s focus on Horizon took precedence over the show. Costner has repeatedly countered these claims, maintaining his dedication to completing the series.
