Tom Selleck on Blue Bloods’ Final Season: ‘Many Fans Aren’t Ready to Say Goodbye’
Tom Selleck, the iconic front man of Blue Bloods, must be pondering how fans of the beloved drama are reacting to the news of its impending end. CBS announced back in November that the show, a staple of Friday nights, will conclude after its upcoming season, which will be split into two parts, with the latter half set to air in the fall.
Despite having nearly a year’s notice, Selleck expressed to TV Insider that many viewers might not be ready to bid farewell. “CBS will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it,” he noted, adding, “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think interest will increase this year.” He emphasized that the creative team still has plenty of ideas.
As for Selleck himself, he’s not in a rush to wrap up the Reagan family’s story. “I’m not counting the days until I can do something else. I love the work. The hours can be tougher as I get older, but so what? I want to work as long as they’ll have me,” he shared.
Here’s what we know about the final season of Blue Bloods:
Final Season Air Dates
The last season will consist of 18 episodes, divided into two segments. The first batch of 10 episodes will premiere on Friday, February 16, at 10/9c, following S.W.A.T.’s final season and Fire Country’s sophomore run. The second batch of eight episodes is yet to have a specific fall premiere date.
Season 13 Highlights
The finale of Season 13 saw the return of original cast member Jennifer Esposito as Jackie Curatola. In this episode, Jackie, now the Chief of Police in a small Suffolk County town, re-partners with Danny to tackle a renewed threat. Their partnership concludes with Jackie encouraging Danny to seek his own happiness. Meanwhile, Erin hinted at her future political aspirations and Frank faced off against Mayor Chase over a controversial city initiative. The family dinner scene also marked the return of Erin’s daughter Nicky and Danny’s son Jack, bringing a sense of unity to the Reagan family.
As Blue Bloods prepares to take its final bow, fans can expect a mix of nostalgia and drama as the beloved series concludes its run.
