Tom Selleck Expresses Hope for Blue Bloods’ Future as CBS Boss Weighs In on Series Status

CBS has decided to cancel Blue Bloods, but that hasn’t stopped fans and cast members from advocating for more episodes. Tom Selleck has been vocal in pushing for the show’s continuation, emphasizing that there are still plenty of ideas left to explore. Following his remarks, CBS executives have clarified the show’s status.

During a recent press conference, CBS President Amy Reisenbach addressed the fall schedule and the series that will be concluding. According to Deadline, Reisenbach acknowledged that moving on without Blue Bloods would be a loss and expressed gratitude to the cast and crew for their work in the final season. When asked about Selleck’s hopes for a potential reversal of the cancellation, she responded:

“We love this cast and their passion for the show. However, all shows must eventually come to an end, and we feel it’s important to refresh our schedule. Blue Bloods will conclude in December.”

Blue Bloods isn’t the only well-loved series to be canceled by CBS. Actress Annie Potts expressed surprise at the end of Young Sheldon, which was one of the most popular shows on both television and Netflix. Although Young Sheldon had its own reasons for concluding after Season 7, its cancellation indicates a challenging landscape for other shows hoping to avoid a similar fate.

It’s tough for Blue Bloods fans, especially those who have followed the show since its debut in 2010. However, few shows are fortunate enough to enjoy such a long run, particularly in today’s streaming era. The silver lining is that with fourteen seasons of content available, fans can binge-watch the series on Paramount+ for quite some time.

Currently, Blue Bloods airs on Friday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET and will wrap up later this holiday season. Fans should make the most of the remaining episodes while keeping an eye on the 2024 TV schedule for new shows to explore after its conclusion.
