Kevin Costner Shares the Key to Lasting Love at Recent Charity Concert

Kevin Costner’s divorce from Christine Baumgartner has been widely reported, highlighting the public fallout that followed. Since then, he has turned to music as a means of expressing his emotions, touring with his band, Modern West. While music has always been a passion of his, it has often taken a backseat to his film career, but fans are eager for more.

At a recent star-studded charity concert, One805Live!, held at his home in Carpinteria, California, Costner shared the stage with artists like Pink, Richard Marx, and Kenny Loggins. Before performing “I Can’t Do This Without You,” he imparted a heartfelt message about love and connection. He urged the audience to acknowledge the importance of their loved ones, saying:

“The person to our right, you know, the one who gets us through everything—your sweetheart, your wife, whatever it is. Sometimes, we see everything but forget to say that one thing: ‘You’re important.'”

He encouraged everyone to nurture their relationships, emphasizing that “in life, sometimes it’s just the littlest thing.” He added, “What’s so hard about saying, ‘You’re important; you’ve been important for a long time’? Sometimes you have to search for it, and that’s what this song is about.”

The charity concert, attended by celebrities like Prince Harry, Cameron Diaz, Jeff Bridges, and Rob Lowe, aimed to raise funds for local fire, police, and sheriff departments, supporting mental health services and necessary equipment.

In addition to his emotional songs, Costner and Modern West performed a rendition of The Turtles’ classic hit “Happy Together.”

Meanwhile, Costner has faced criticism for his self-funded film series, Horizon: An American Saga, with the first installment released to mixed reviews and the second film’s release postponed.

At a recent event hosted by Malcolm Gladwell, Costner reflected on his love for the American West, recalling a childhood birthday party where he watched the four-hour film How the West Was Won. He humorously noted, “It’s no surprise mine are three,” referencing both his recent work and the Oscar-winning Dances With Wolves.
