“Tom Selleck Enjoys a Westchester Brew on ‘Blue Bloods'”
If the beer bottle Tom Selleck was seen sipping in a recent episode of “Blue Bloods” looked familiar, it’s because it was a brew from Westchester.
Specifically, it was a lager from Yonkers Brewing Company. Selleck portrays NYC Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in the series, which is set to air its final season—its 14th—next year.
Yonkers Brewing Company’s beers have made multiple appearances throughout more than a dozen episodes of the CBS show, thanks to a serendipitous encounter their sales manager had at the now-closed Beer Noggin in Bronxville back in 2016.
Dana Higgins was enjoying a Yonkers lager when he struck up a conversation with a fellow patron, only to find out that the stranger was the prop master for “Blue Bloods.”
“Next thing we knew, we were invited to the show’s set in Brooklyn, bringing along a few cases of our beloved brew,” said owner John Rubbo. “We had an exciting tour of the studio and sets, leaving behind our beer in hopes it might make an appearance. And it did! Who would have guessed that a simple chat over a Yonkers lager could lead to a TV feature? The lesson here: a great beer and a good conversation can open doors to unexpected adventures on screen!”
In addition to the lager, another scene features a Yonkers Brewing IPA.
