“Paramount Exec Hints at Potential Blue Bloods Spinoff”

Maybe Tom Selleck was onto something: the Blue Bloods universe might not be finished after all.

During an annual stockholders meeting on Tuesday, Paramount Global co-CEO Brian Robbins suggested that a new Blue Bloods series could be in development, despite the CBS drama’s impending conclusion later this year.

Robbins teased the possibility of a Blue Bloods spinoff while discussing future franchise expansions. “In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions, and Blue Bloods,” Robbins revealed. He also mentioned that CBS’ hit show Fire Country shows great potential. While it’s known that spinoffs for Dexter, Billions, and Fire Country are already in the works, a Blue Bloods offshoot has not been officially confirmed yet.

Blue Bloods, which stars Selleck as veteran cop and family patriarch Frank Reagan, is set to wrap up with Season 14 later this year. Despite Selleck and other cast members advocating for the show to continue, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach has stated that it’s time for the show to end. “We love this cast, we appreciate their passion for the show. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to refresh the schedule,” Reisenbach said. “We are going to end the show in December.”

Nonetheless, Selleck and his co-stars may have a valid point: Blue Bloods was the No. 8 most-watched program on broadcast TV this past season, consistently dominating Friday nights in terms of total viewership.
