“Kevin Costner Looks Unrecognizable in Throwback Photo for His 70th Birthday Celebration”
Kevin Costner turned 70 on Saturday, January 18, and in celebration of this milestone, the actor-director shared a nostalgic throwback photo on Instagram. The picture showed a young Costner dressed in full cowboy gear, reminiscing about his lifelong love for the Western lifestyle.
“Thank you guys for the birthday wishes,” the Yellowstone star wrote at the start of his caption. “If you can believe it, this is me. I was chasing the cowboy life just about as soon as I could walk, and here I am, still living it.” He added, “Here’s to another year of keeping our sights set on our dreams.”
In the days leading up to his birthday, a source told People that Costner is in a “good place,” enjoying quality time with his family and friends. The source also noted that while he’s not currently involved with anyone romantically, he’s content with where he is and not actively seeking a relationship.
Over the past year, Costner has had a remarkable run, both professionally and personally. In June 2024, he celebrated the release of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, which he wrote, directed, and starred in. The film earned a 10-minute standing ovation at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival in May 2024. Reflecting on his career and life, Costner shared with People, “I’ve had an amazing life. I’ve been bruised, but I’ve had an incredible life, and I’m grateful for that. It’s been unusual, but beautiful for the most part.”
The actor took a moment to acknowledge his seven children, whom he credits as the “anchor” of his life. Costner, who is a father to Annie (40), Lily (38), Grace (14), Joe (36), Liam (28), Cayden (17), and Hayes (15), shared that family always comes first. “They know that I have this chosen work, but at the end of the day, my responsibility lies with them,” he explained. “My life is all about getting my kids where they need to be… that’s part of the job.”
