“How Tom Selleck Will Celebrate His 80th Birthday One Month After Wrapping Up ‘Blue Bloods’”

Tom Selleck is about to hit a major milestone—his 80th birthday is fast approaching on January 29, and the Blue Bloods star recently shared how he plans to mark the occasion.

In a recent interview, Tom, who turns 80 this year, was asked about his birthday plans. “None whatsoever. I’m trying not to count,” he confessed. “I stopped celebrating birthdays a while back. I intend to keep working.”

Despite not making a big fuss, the Magnum, P.I. actor, who has been married to Jillie Mack since 1987, said he would likely spend the day with family. “I’ll probably have dinner with maybe my brother and my sister and Jillie, just go out to dinner, kind of be quiet and not make a big deal of it,” he shared.

As Tom heads into his 80s, he’s also adjusting to the end of an era—the cancellation of Blue Bloods after 14 successful seasons. Tom expressed his disappointment with the show’s abrupt ending and has been adjusting to life after the series.

“The hardest thing right now is that at this time of year, I’d be shooting Blue Bloods episodes, and I miss that,” he told Entertainment Weekly in December 2024. “The toughest part is missing the cast, the relationships, and the friendships we formed. It’s a lot like high school graduation—everyone says they’ll keep in touch, but life happens. It’s a bigger adjustment this time because of the long-standing relationships we built over 15 years.”

However, Tom is focusing on the positive. Sources revealed that he’s planning to celebrate his birthday in a relaxed manner with family and friends, including a special event at his 63-acre avocado ranch in Ventura County, California.

“His wife Jillie and their daughter, Hannah, are organizing a big celebration at the farm, where friends will gather to toast Tom’s health—and maybe roast him a little, all in good fun,” an insider shared. “Tom’s Blue Bloods costars, including Donnie Wahlberg and Bridget Moynahan, are likely to be part of the celebration. They’re all like family to him.”

Despite the challenges of transitioning from the show, Tom is making the most of his milestone year and cherishing the memories he’s created with loved ones.
