“Tom Selleck Reflects on Filming His Final Blue Bloods Scene and What He’ll Miss Most About the Show”

The final eight episodes of Blue Bloods are set to air soon, but Tom Selleck has already filmed his last scene as Frank Reagan.

As previously reported, Donnie Wahlberg (Danny) shared footage from his final day on set, expressing his disappointment about the show’s cancellation. Tom also revealed his frustration over the show coming to an end, but he is focused on ensuring Blue Bloods gets the proper send-off it deserves. After 15 years portraying Frank Reagan, Tom reflected on his final scene on the set of the long-running cop drama.

Tom Selleck Opens Up About His Last Scene on Blue Bloods

In a twist of fate, Tom’s last scene was reminiscent of his first. The final moment he filmed for Blue Bloods was a family dinner — the same scene that marked his debut on the show 15 years ago.

“My last scene was ironically a family dinner; that was also the first scene I shot on the show!” Tom shared. “I’m not going to give away too much about the final episode, but the family dinner reunites the Reagan family one last time.”

In the emotional finale, the entire Reagan family gathers around the table, including Erin’s (Bridget Moynahan) daughter Nicky (Sami Gayle) and Danny’s son Jack (Tony Terraciano), who return for the momentous occasion.

Although Tom’s final scene was the family dinner, it doesn’t mean it’s the last scene of the series. It just marks the end of his time on the show. When filming wrapped, the set was closed, and emotions were high.

“We had been shooting for hours when suddenly they said, ‘Well, that was the last shot.’ I always wanted to read the poem ‘Love Is Not All’ by Edna St. Vincent Millay. There was a lot of crying and an enormous amount of hugs,” Tom recalled.

The Reagan family dinners have always been a key part of the show, and Tom admitted they would be one of the things he misses most. However, it’s not what he’ll miss the most about Blue Bloods.

What Tom Selleck Will Miss Most About Blue Bloods

The cast of Blue Bloods has often described the set as a family, and as the series nears its end, Tom echoed those sentiments.

“The actors. The family of actors is as close as the Reagan family and the characters they play,” Tom explained. “There isn’t a single one who didn’t want to come back. Most shows don’t end like that — with no petty jealousy or drama. We overcame that, and it’s something everyone can be proud of.”

For Tom, it’s the strong bond with the cast that made leaving Blue Bloods so difficult.
