Kevin Costner, Hollywood Heartthrob at 70, Looking to Date After Divorce
Kevin Costner is having a major moment. In December 2024, Kristin Cavallari revealed in an Instagram Story that the 70-year-old actor is her “forever crush.” That same month, Costner made headlines after being spotted with Jennifer Lopez at Aspen’s popular Kemo Sabe. Fans weren’t surprised, given the buzz around his chemistry with other stars: back in November 2024, he was seen flirting with Sharon Stone at an L.A. event, and last summer, many rooted for a romance between Costner and Hoda Kotb. Kotb herself later admitted she was open to the idea of dating him.
Nearly two years after his unexpected divorce from Christine Baumgartner—his wife of 18 years—Costner seems firmly back in the dating game. Baumgartner has also moved on, getting engaged to financier Josh Connor, a former friend of Costner’s, in late January. According to sources, “The divorce was tough at first, but Kevin has no regrets. He believes it was the best choice for both him and Christine.” The exes remain amicable co-parents to their three children—Cayden (17), Hayes (16), and Grace (14). Costner is also father to four older children: Annie (40), Lily (38), Joe (37), and Liam (28), from previous relationships.
Workwise, Costner is busier than ever. On January 24, he announced via social media that the second chapter of his passion project, Horizon: An American Saga, will premiere at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on February 8. He also recently launched a three-part docuseries on Fox Nation called Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner. Fans still miss his role as John Dutton on Yellowstone after his 2023 exit, but the actor is grateful for the career boost the series gave him. “He feels like he left on a high note,” says a source. Despite all the attention and admiration, Kevin stays grounded. “He’s flattered but doesn’t take it too seriously,” the source adds. Still, he’s open to love. “People are meant to be together,” he’s said. “I’m sure it could happen for me.” For 2025, he plans to balance his projects with personal time, hoping to get out more and maybe meet someone special. “He’s optimistic,” the source says.
Turning 70 on January 18 was a milestone, but one Kevin doesn’t dwell on. “He feels great and is busier than ever,” the source reveals. Kevin’s career has been steady since classics like Field of Dreams and Bull Durham, but Yellowstone sparked a renaissance for him. Work keeps him energized. “If you stay interested in what you do, it keeps you younger,” he’s said. “Being engaged with your work sustains you.” The source adds, “Kevin doesn’t see age as a limitation. He has many goals ahead — directing more, exploring new creative outlets. Even now, he keeps evolving as an artist and storyteller.”
Retirement? Not on his radar. “People say, ‘Maybe this is the time to slow down and relax,’” he says, “and they’re not wrong. But that’s just not how I roll.”
