“Kevin Costner Faces Potential Box Office Bust”

Kevin Costner has invested heavily in his passion project, the tetralogy “Horizon: An American Saga,” but it could be on the brink of disaster. Sources indicate that the “Yellowstone” star has committed $100 million of his own funds to the epic western series, even going so far as to mortgage his Santa Barbara seaside estate to finance it. However, after the first film in the series was met with harsh criticism at Cannes, friends and colleagues are growing concerned.

Esquire summed up the reviews, noting The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw described “Horizon” as “three saddle-sore hours,” while The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney suggested the film “plays like a limited series repurposed as a movie.” IndieWire’s Ryan Lattanzio labeled it the “dullest cinematic vanity project of the century,” commenting that the film’s awkward episodic format made it seem like Costner was trying to outdo Taylor Sheridan in his own game.
