Kevin Costner Opens Up About ‘Yellowstone’ in His First ‘Armchair Expert’ Interview

As filming resumes on the final episodes of Yellowstone in Montana, star Kevin Costner has been globetrotting to promote his new film, Horizon: An American Saga. After a successful Cannes premiere for the first installment of his four-movie epic, which earned him a seven-minute standing ovation, Costner is reflecting on his Yellowstone journey.

In his first appearance on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Costner shared his early reservations about the show. He initially agreed to one season and later extended his commitment to three. “They asked if I’d be in seven seasons, and I said no. Then five seasons, and I said no again. I didn’t want to mislead anyone, so I agreed to three seasons,” he explained. Despite his initial reluctance, he ended up participating in five seasons. He noted, “I believed in the world, even if it was a soap opera. We threw logic out the window. Taylor Sheridan wrote authentically, and it was great fun. I did my best.”

Fans are eagerly awaiting to see if Costner will appear in the show’s final episodes, slated for November. Meanwhile, Horizon: An American Saga hits theaters on June 28.
