SCAD Savannah Film Fest Honors Kevin Costner with Legend of Cinema Award
Kevin Costner, the acclaimed actor and filmmaker, has been selected by the SCAD Savannah Film Festival to receive its prestigious Legend of Cinema Award, The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively reveal.
The honor will be presented to Costner following an afternoon screening on November 1 of Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1, the first installment of an epic Western film series that he both directed and stars in. The event will include a Q&A session moderated by yours truly, where Costner will take questions alongside key members of the film’s creative team, including cinematographer J. Michael Muro (CAS), costume designer Lisa Lovaas, editor Miklos Wright (ACE), and re-recording mixer Joe DeAngelis. Previous recipients of the SCAD Savannah Film Festival’s Legend of Cinema Award include notable figures such as Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Stewart, and Hugh Jackman.
Costner joins an impressive lineup of Hollywood heavyweights heading to Savannah for this year’s edition of the nation’s largest university-sponsored film festival, running October 26 through November 2. Other Oscar contenders set to be honored include Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez), who will join me for a live recording of the Awards Chatter podcast on November 1.
