Kelly Reilly Moves On from Yellowstone Drama with Kevin Costner in Exciting Next Chapter

Kelly Reilly to Star Opposite Samuel L. Jackson in New Prison Drama, Plus Upcoming TV Thriller

Kelly Reilly, best known for her fierce portrayal of Beth Dutton in the hit series Yellowstone, is embarking on an exciting new chapter with two major projects on the horizon — and both promise to be compelling watches.

The talented actress is set to star in a new film titled Last Meals alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Boyd Holbrook. The story centers on Jackson’s character, Walter, a disgraced former White House chef who now prepares last meals for death row inmates. As he forms an unexpected bond with Reed, a prisoner on hunger strike he suspects may be innocent, Walter teams up with Reilly’s character, Hannah, to confront the prison’s politically driven administration. The trio’s mission: bring dignity, hope, and possibly justice to those behind bars. Last Meals is currently in pre-production, with a release date yet to be announced.

Reilly is also leading a gripping new Sky crime drama titled Under Salt Marsh. Set in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen, Reilly plays Jackie Ellis — a former detective turned schoolteacher whose life is thrown into turmoil when she discovers the body of one of her students, eight-year-old Cefin, who appears to have drowned. The tragedy stirs up painful memories of Jackie’s niece Nessa, who went missing three years earlier — a case that ended her policing career.

As a violent storm looms off the coast, Jackie joins forces with her former partner, Detective Eric Bull, who returns to Morfa Halen to investigate. Convinced the two cases are connected, they must work together to uncover buried secrets before the storm destroys crucial evidence — and before more lives are lost.

Behind the Scenes of Yellowstone

Reilly’s career pivot comes after the dramatic conclusion of Yellowstone, which was marred by tensions between series creator Taylor Sheridan and lead actor Kevin Costner. The show’s fifth season marked Costner’s exit, as his character was written off due to off-screen conflicts, including scheduling issues related to his film project, Horizon.

Sheridan later addressed the situation, saying:

“I’ve never had an issue with Kevin that he and I couldn’t work out on the phone… Once lawyers get involved, people stop talking and narratives form that aren’t always true. Kevin took a lot of it on the chin, and I don’t think anyone deserves that. Horizon is clearly his focus now, and I hope it’s worth it — I hope it’s a good one.”
