“Kevin Costner & Morgan Freeman Miniseries Receives Exciting Update After a Year”

Things have definitely been moving slowly for The Gray House, the Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman-produced miniseries. First announced back in 2022, the project has kept fans waiting with very little news about its production and release. But now, after a long wait, we finally have a promising update.

In April 2024, it was announced that The Gray House would open the Monte-Carlo Television Festival that June. A few months later, in September, it was revealed that some major music industry names had contributed to the soundtrack. However, since then—nearly a year later—details like a release date or streaming platform have remained under wraps. That is, until now.

Producers have confirmed that filming on the eight-episode historical drama is complete, and they teased a “major announcement this summer.” While no additional details were shared, this is the first real sign of progress we’ve been hoping for. With July already here, we can expect news any day now, whether it’s the official release date or the streaming home. Honestly, it’s about time!

Set in the 1800s, The Gray House centers on three extraordinary women—portrayed by Mary-Louise Parker, Daisy Head, and Amethyst Davis—who played pivotal roles in the Union’s victory during the American Civil War. The story is based on a true account, with General Ulysses S. Grant himself crediting these unsung heroines for their crucial contributions. The narrative follows a Richmond socialite and her daughter, a formerly enslaved African-American woman, and a courtesan who together form the first successful female spy ring, operating right under the noses of the Confederate High Command. Their daring mission risks everything to help preserve American democracy.

Also starring in The Gray House are Ben Vereen and Colin O’Donoghue, known for his role in Once Upon a Time. As a longtime fan of O’Donoghue, I’m eagerly following every update—I can’t wait to see him back on screen, especially with that impressive beard he’s sporting as his mysterious character in the series.

And about that soundtrack—prepare to be wowed. Big names like Leslie Greif, Willie Nelson, Shania Twain, Killer Mike, and Yolanda Adams have contributed songs, with Jon Bon Jovi even co-writing one of the tracks featured in the series. How awesome is that?

Stay tuned to Show Snob for all the latest updates on The Gray House. The wait might finally be coming to an end!
