On Wednesday, September 17, the prestigious Circolo Canottieri in Rome will host a special evening dedicated to one of Hollywood’s most iconic figures: Kevin Costner. The occasion marks the launch of a new biography titled Kevin on Costner, which offers an in-depth look at the actor’s remarkable career and legacy.
An American Icon
Few actors have captured the essence of the American myth like Kevin Costner. Over four decades, he has distinguished himself as an actor, director, producer, and even musician—shaping stories that have captivated audiences around the world. From classics like Dances with Wolves and The Untouchables to ambitious productions such as Waterworld, and more recently, the epic Horizon – An American Saga, Costner’s work continues to leave an indelible mark on global cinema.
A Biography in His Own Words
Authored by Silvia Bizio and Pietro Ricci, Kevin on Costner is a unique portrait told largely through the actor’s own words. Drawing from decades of interviews, the book explores his successes, struggles, and bold artistic choices, offering a candid and intimate look at a man who has often described himself as an “anti-star.” The volume is further enriched by rare on-set photographs and striking original illustrations by Brazilian artist Thobias Daneluz. Beyond cinema, the book also reflects on Costner’s vision of America—its history, its conflicts, and its enduring myths.
Event Details
The presentation is open to members and cinema enthusiasts and will begin at 6:30 PM in the Circolo’s Salone Rappresentanza. Joining the event will be author Silvia Bizio and journalist/writer Luciana Capretti, with opening remarks by event advisor Alberto Acciari and greetings from Circolo president Paolo Vitale.
