“Prime Video Takes U.S. Rights to Kevin Costner & Morgan Freeman-Produced Civil War Drama ‘The Gray House’”

EXCLUSIVE: The Gray House, a Civil War epic executive produced by Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman, has found a home on Prime Video in the U.S. The limited series has been acquired by the streamer and is set to premiere in early 2026.

The eight-part drama tells the compelling true story of a covert network of female spies who played a pivotal role in shifting the course of the war. Set deep within the heart of the Confederacy, the story follows a Virginia socialite, her mother, a formerly enslaved ally, and a well-known courtesan as they work together to build a daring espionage network—risking everything for freedom and justice.

The cast features Mary-Louise Parker (The West Wing), Daisy Head (Harlots), Amethyst Davis (Kindred), and Ben Vereen (Roots), with direction by Roland Joffé.

The ensemble also includes Paul Anderson, Ian Duff, Hannah James, Robert Knepper, Christopher McDonald, Colin Morgan, Rob Morrow, Colin O’Donoghue, Sam Trammell, Ewan Miller, and Keith David.

Produced by Republic Pictures (a Paramount label), The Gray House is a collaboration between Costner’s Territory Pictures, Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment, and Leslie Greif’s Big Dreams Entertainment.

The series was created and written by Leslie Greif, known for Hatfields & McCoys, alongside Darrell Fetty and John Sayles. Executive producers include Greif, Freeman, Lori McCreary (Revelations), Costner, Rod Lake, and Howard Kaplan.

Paramount Global Content Distribution is handling worldwide sales and brokered the deal with Prime Video.

The Gray House will also feature a star-studded soundtrack, including an original song performed by Willie Nelson. Additional music contributions come from Shania Twain, Killer Mike, Yolanda Adams, and a co-written track by Jon Bon Jovi.
