Kevin Costner Bombshell: A Long List of Hollywood People Swear to Never Work With Him Again
Kevin Costner Accused of On-Set Blow-Up with Wes Bentley Amid Ongoing Hollywood Backlash
Kevin Costner is facing fresh controversy after reports emerged alleging he instigated a heated confrontation with Yellowstone co-star Wes Bentley, which temporarily halted production on the hit series.
Sources claim the 70-year-old actor “lunged” at Bentley during a dispute over the script, reportedly demanding changes that contradicted creator Taylor Sheridan’s original vision. Bentley stood firm, allegedly telling Costner he signed on for “a Taylor Sheridan show, not a Kevin Costner production.”
That response didn’t sit well with Costner, who is said to have physically confronted Bentley. “No punches were thrown, but they were chest to chest, yelling and shoving,” an insider revealed. “It got tense enough that crew members had to step in.”
The altercation reportedly marked a breaking point on a set already strained by creative clashes and inflated egos.
Co-Stars Claim Costner Was ‘Difficult’ to Work With
The fallout extended beyond Bentley. Cast members, including Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), were allegedly affected by the rising tension. One insider claimed Reilly was left in tears over the situation and that Costner’s presence had become “unworkable” for many.
“He’s on a long list of people in Hollywood that some vow never to work with again,” said one source, describing the Academy Award winner as “impossible” on set.
Eventually, Costner departed the series, citing scheduling conflicts related to his ambitious Western film project, Horizon. However, his exit reportedly brought relief to some co-stars. Luke Grimes commented in a 2024 interview that production had become “easier” without him.
“To be honest, when Kevin left, some of the friction left with him,” Grimes said. “It was our smoothest season yet.”
Former Agent and Taylor Sheridan Defend Costner
Despite the backlash, Costner’s former agent, Rick Nicita—who represented him from 2002 to 2008—stepped up to defend the star.
“The term ‘difficult’ gets thrown around too casually,” Nicita said. “Kevin isn’t difficult in the way people think. He’s focused, confident, and sure of what he wants. That can be misread as arrogance.”
Meanwhile, Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan denied any long-term rift between him and Costner, expressing disappointment at how things unfolded but not blaming the actor directly.
“I’ve never had a problem with Kevin that we couldn’t settle ourselves—until lawyers got involved,” Sheridan said. “Once that happens, people stop talking directly and start miscommunicating through the press.”
Sexual Harassment Allegations Add to the Turmoil
As if the Yellowstone drama weren’t enough, Costner is also entangled in a serious legal battle. Devyn LaBella, a stunt performer on Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, has accused him of misconduct on set, including allegedly forcing her to participate in a violent scene without proper preparation or an intimacy coordinator.
Costner has strongly denied the allegations, calling them “a bold-faced lie” intended to “destroy [his] reputation through false claims and sensationalist language.”
