Kevin Costner, a father of seven, shared rare thoughts about his children over the weekend.

The 71-year-old filmmaker attended Fanatics’ pre-Super Bowl party in San Francisco on Saturday, where he spoke candidly about parenthood. Costner shares sons Cayden, 18, and Hayes, 16, and daughter Grace, 15, with his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner, 51. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2024 after separating in April 2023 and filing the following month.

He is also father to Annie, 41, Lily, 39, and Joe, 37, from his marriage to Cindy Silva, as well as Liam, 30, whom he shares with former girlfriend Bridget Rooney.

While at the event, Costner revealed that being a role model remains important to him. He said he wants his children to “look up to” him, adding, “I used to be the strongest person they ever saw. I want to stay that way for them.”

Reflecting on his life and career, Costner expressed gratitude for his journey in Hollywood, calling it a blessing to have discovered his passion and been able to pursue it for decades.

Following his split from Baumgartner, the actor has reportedly struggled with the emotional fallout. Baumgartner later moved on with Costner’s former friend Josh O’Connor, a situation that sources say has been painful for the actor. While he wishes the marriage could have worked, insiders note that he tries not to dwell on her remarriage.

Costner has since been linked to Kelly Noonan Gores, whom he began dating in August. Sources describe Gores, 46, as a calming presence in his life, though Costner is said to be proceeding cautiously after his recent divorce.

According to insiders, the pair spend time together when their schedules align, often at his Santa Barbara estate. They reportedly enjoy low-key activities such as home-cooked dinners, beach walks, and quiet evenings in.

Despite their connection, those close to the actor emphasize that he is not seeking marriage or a serious commitment anytime soon. The relationship is described as private and casual, with Costner focused on enjoying life again after what has been characterized as a difficult period.
