As production officially begins on the third installment of Horizon: An American Saga, the Oscar-winning actor surprised fans with an adorable behind-the-scenes reveal. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Costner shared heart-melting photos of his new puppy, Bobby, comfortably perched in the director’s chair. “Bobby Update: He’s a natural on set,” he wrote, alongside snapshots of the yellow Labrador exploring the set like he already runs the show.
Sporting tiny protective booties and walking proudly on a leash, Bobby looked right at home amid the Western backdrop. Costner first introduced the pup earlier this year, calling him the “newest addition to the family” and admitting, “I’m already in love with this special guy.”
While Bobby may be winning hearts, Costner is deep in director mode. “Back on the ground working on #HorizonAmericanSaga Part 3,” he shared earlier this week, posting images from the set. “It’s hard to believe Part 1 will hit theaters in less than a month. I hope you’ll check out what we’ve created.”
The sweeping Western saga is more than just another project for Costner — it’s decades in the making. The filmmaker has devoted nearly 30 years to bringing Horizon to life, continuing his long-standing love affair with the genre that defined his career after Dances with Wolves.
“I don’t know if ‘passion’ is the right word,” Costner told. “I just don’t fall out of love with the things I enjoy. I’m always on the lookout for the next great movie.”
