All About Kevin Costner’s 7 Children: Meet His Sons and Daughters
Kevin Costner’s 7 Children: A Closer Look at His Sons and Daughters
Kevin Costner is the proud father of seven children — three daughters and four sons. Over the years, he has taken on many iconic roles, but the one he values most is being a dad.
The Yellowstone star shares daughters Annie, Lily, and son Joe with his first wife, Cindy Silva. He later welcomed son Liam with former partner Bridget Rooney. In 2004, Costner married designer Christine Baumgartner, and together they had three children: sons Cayden and Hayes, and daughter Grace.
Although it’s rare to see all seven children together, they strongly support their father. In June 2024, five of his kids — Hayes, Grace, Cayden, Joe, and Annie — joined him on the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of Horizon: An American Saga. The Oscar-winning actor has often said that his children remain the “anchor” of his life.
“They know I have this chosen work,” Costner once shared, “but I’m very clear about where my responsibility lies at the end of the day.”
He also spent Thanksgiving that year with six of his children, sharing beach photos on Instagram and writing that the special memories with his kids topped his gratitude list.
Here’s a closer look at each of Kevin Costner’s seven children:
Annie Costner (born April 15, 1984)
Born in Los Angeles, Annie is Costner’s eldest child. She began acting at a young age and appeared alongside her father in the Oscar-winning film Dances With Wolves. She also had roles in The Baby-Sitters Club, The Postman, and Lazy Teenage Superheroes.
Eventually, Annie transitioned from acting to producing. In 2014, she co-founded Sound Off Films, producing documentaries including Katy Perry’s Witness Tour, The Pittsburgh Drug Trials, The Discarded: A Tale of Two Rios, and Bump and Spike.
In July 2016, Annie married physician Dr. Danny Cox at her father’s private estate in Carpinteria, California.
Lily Costner (born August 4, 1986)
Lily, Costner’s second child with Silva, was also born in Los Angeles. Like her sister, she appeared in The Baby-Sitters Club and The Postman.
Beyond acting, Lily is a talented singer and songwriter. She has contributed to several of her father’s projects and even performed a duet of “Heaven’s Gate” with his band, Kevin Costner & Modern West, featured on the album Tales from Yellowstone.
Costner has praised Lily’s musical abilities, describing her as incredibly gifted but more interested in quality of life than fame.
Joe Costner (born January 31, 1988)
Joe, the youngest of Costner and Silva’s children, also appeared in films with his father, including Tin Cup and The Postman.
Today, Joe works behind the scenes in entertainment as an audio engineer and production sound mixer. Costner has described him as grounded and thoughtful, emphasizing that Joe’s strong friendships reflect his character.
Liam Costner (born November 1996)
Costner welcomed Liam during a brief relationship with Bridget Rooney. Born in November 1996, Liam tends to stay out of the public eye and maintains a private life.
Cayden Wyatt Costner (born May 6, 2007)
Cayden was born in Los Angeles a few years after Costner married Christine Baumgartner. At 52, Costner admitted he worried about having enough energy to raise another child, expressing his desire to guide Cayden through life personally.
From an early age, Cayden showed interest in music, sitting with his father during recording sessions and enjoying the rhythm of the band.
Hayes Logan Costner (born February 12, 2009)
Hayes was born in Los Angeles and was named after a cowboy character in a Western project Costner was working on at the time.
Growing up, Hayes participated in sports and often attended his father’s film premieres. In 2019, he joined the family at the premiere of The Art of Racing in the Rain. He later appeared in a small role in his father’s epic Western project Horizon, where Costner admitted he cast his son partly to spend more time together on set.
Grace Avery Costner (born June 2, 2010)
Grace is Costner and Baumgartner’s youngest child. Born in California, she grew up watching her father transform for film roles.
Unlike her brothers, Grace prefers creative activities like sewing and dancing. Costner has described her as a “girly girl,” though she occasionally joins her brothers outdoors — on her own terms.
Kevin Costner may be one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, but at home, he’s simply “Dad” — a role he considers his greatest achievement.
