EXCLUSIVE: Scarface Star Who Shared Screens With Tom Cruise & Kevin Costner Spotted on NYC Subway at 67 — Can You Guess Who?

An actress who shared the screen with some of Hollywood’s most iconic leading men was spotted on the New York subway this week.

After cutting her teeth on the stage, she exploded onto the big screen with a memorable role in Scarface, starring alongside Al Pacino.

During the same decade, she appeared opposite Tom Cruise, followed by a collaboration with Kevin Costner in the ’90s, and later worked with George Clooney at the turn of the millennium.

Now 67, the Tony-nominated actress was seen in Manhattan carrying a bulging shopping bag as she took a seat on the subway. She sported a chic pale grey turtleneck paired with slim dark jeans, topped with a puffer jacket and mittens to ward off the winter chill.

Can you guess who she is? It’s Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, who rose to fame in Scarface as Gina, the sister of Tony Montana. Directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone, the 1983 gangster classic also starred Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Loggia, with Steven Bauer as her on-screen love interest.

Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, Mastrantonio studied drama at the University of Illinois, then moved to New York City to pursue her acting career. She made her Broadway debut in a 1980 revival of West Side Story, initially understudying and later replacing Josie de Guzman as Maria.

Her breakout role in Scarface came three years later, as Gina Montana, whose complicated relationship with her brother Tony and his right-hand man Manny became one of the film’s key storylines.

Her striking look often led to confusion among fans: “People say, ‘You’re Amy Irving!’” she recalled in 1989. “One cab driver even told me, ‘You look just like that girl in Scarface — Geena Davis.’ I guess it’s the wide-set eyes we share.”

Her career continued to flourish with major films such as The Color of Money, directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise as pool hustlers.
