Kevin Costner Finally Tells the Truth — And It Confirms the Heartbreaking Rumors

Kevin Costner has finally spoken about the deep pain he endured following his divorce from Christine Baumgartner, describing the experience as a “crushing moment.”

The acclaimed actor and his former wife shocked many when they announced their separation last year after two decades of marriage. Reports at the time suggested that Baumgartner was the one who filed for divorce, a decision that reportedly left Costner blindsided and emotionally devastated.

For months, Costner chose to remain silent about the situation. However, after a highly publicized legal dispute over child support, the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves star now appears ready to share his perspective. Reflecting on the breakup, he admitted, “That’s a crushing moment. It hurt, but I go forward.”

He explained that moving ahead was not optional, especially because of his children. Costner and Baumgartner share three kids together — sons Cayden, 17, and Hayes, 15, and daughter Grace, 14. The actor is also a father to three children from his previous marriage to Cindy Silva, as well as a son with Bridget Rooney.

“My children are watching me, so I can’t wilt like a daisy,” the 69-year-old said when discussing the split. “I have to keep going. I have to stay true to who I am and pay close attention to who they are becoming.”

Speculation surrounding the breakdown of their marriage spread quickly last year. Some insiders pointed to Costner’s demanding schedule filming Yellowstone, while others claimed he was uneasy about Baumgartner’s close friendship with Josh Connor.

Earlier this year, new reports claimed that Baumgartner had moved on with Connor after the two were seen together publicly — despite her earlier court testimony stating they were only friends.
