Kevin Costner’s Eldest Daughter Annie Cox Reflects on Personal Growth at 41
Kevin Costner’s eldest daughter, Annie Cox, recently shared a heartfelt life update on Instagram in celebration of her 41st birthday on April 15. In the candid post, Cox opened up about facing personal struggles around the time she turned 40, describing it as a period marked by “mid-life demons.”
“Last year when I turned 40 I decided to go to Paris. I had never been. It felt a little wrong in the moment actually. I wasn’t feeling my best, or very confident after having taken a couple years off to take care of our kids,” she wrote. “I was, in retrospect, battling some mid-life demons, but I knew I needed something.”
Cox explained that the solo trip to Paris ultimately became a turning point. She said the experience helped reignite a sense of self that had dimmed over time, calling it “the spark” that brought her back to life.
“I’m thankful I trusted my gut and ‘took the trip’ because it was absolutely the spark to remind me who I was and am,” she said. “I jumped into work as soon as I got back and this last year just burst wide open for me. Everything unfolded as it should have.”
Now at 41, Cox says she feels more confident than ever and trusts that her life is unfolding as it’s meant to.
A licensed real estate agent based in the Ojai and Santa Barbara areas, Cox is married to Dr. Danny Cox. The couple wed in July 2016 and share two children: Vincent, born in April 2018, and Vida, born in January 2020.
In her Instagram post, Cox also shared a series of photos from her transformative trip to Paris, including one showing off a meaningful tattoo she got while there. The simple cursive script reads, “love, Mom” — which appears to be in the handwriting of her mother, Cindy Silva Costner.
Kevin Costner and Cindy Silva were married in 1978 and share three children: Annie, 41, Lily, 38, and Joe, 37. The couple divorced in 1994 but have remained close over the years. A source recently revealed that Cindy has been a source of support for Costner amid his highly publicized divorce from Christine Baumgartner.
“Kevin and Cindy have stayed close friends, and she has been guiding him in recent months over his heartbreak from Christine, as she is a wise woman,” the source said. “He really appreciates that their sad split has led to such a beautiful friendship. She is an ally and offers great advice. He leans on her quite often.”
In addition to his three children with Cindy, Costner has a son, Liam, 28, from a brief relationship with Bridget Rooney, and three younger children with Baumgartner: Cayden, 17, Hayes, 16, and Grace, 14.
