“Blue Bloods Star Abigail Hawk Reveals Heartbreaking News Before Season Finale”
As fans of Blue Bloods gear up for the final episodes of the hit CBS series this fall, star Abigail Hawk has shared some bittersweet news. With only three episodes left to film, Abigail opened up about the show’s impending end during an appearance on the Think Big With Michael Zellner podcast.
“It’s starting to hit home that we only have three episodes left to film,” Abigail revealed. “Despite our hopes, the network has announced that the show won’t be renewed, despite our and the fans’ best efforts. But as they say, hope springs eternal. There’s still a chance that another network might pick it up. It’s a tough reality, but we’re holding on to the possibility that someone will see the value in continuing the show.”
Abigail also noted the unique accomplishment of the series, saying, “Taking a Friday night slot at 10 PM and making it a must-watch time has been a significant achievement.”
Blue Bloods, the popular CBS police procedural drama, is set to conclude with its 15th season this Fall 2024. The current season will wrap up on May 17, with Tom Selleck, 79, playing New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan since the show’s 2010 debut. Tom has been vocal about his disappointment with CBS’s decision.
“We’re the third-highest scripted show in broadcast TV, and we’re consistently winning the night. The cast is eager to continue, and we’re producing high-quality episodes. So, it’s puzzling why the show is ending,” Tom expressed to CBS News. He further added in an interview with TV Insider, “CBS will discover that many viewers aren’t ready to say goodbye. The show’s popularity is at its peak, and there’s still plenty of potential.”
The series chronicles Frank Reagan, portrayed by Tom, and his family of law enforcement professionals. Frank’s eldest son Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) is a seasoned detective with a complex approach to solving cases, while daughter Erin (Bridget Moynahan) serves as an assistant district attorney. The youngest Reagan, Jamie (Will Estes), left a promising legal career to join the family’s police tradition.
Abigail Hawk stars as Detective Abigail Baker, a key member of the Police Commissioner’s team and Frank’s primary aide. She has been a staple of the show throughout its 14-year run.
