“Bridget Moynahan Reflects on the ‘Emotional’ Final Day of Filming ‘Blue Bloods'”

As “Blue Bloods” gears up for its final season, premiering on October 18, Bridget Moynahan has shared her reflections on the show’s conclusion and her emotional final moments on set with co-star Tom Selleck.

“We’re all a bit heartbroken,” Moynahan told People about the show ending after 14 successful seasons. “We’ve had an incredible journey together. It’s tough to let go. It’s a significant loss for all of us.”

Moynahan, who has portrayed Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan—daughter of Selleck’s character Frank Reagan—since the show’s debut in 2010, has been a central figure in the series. Her co-stars include Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, and Len Cariou.

“This has been our daily reality for 14 years,” she said. “We’ve shared so many major life events, from births and deaths to marriages and illnesses. We’ve gone through it all together.”

Reflecting on her final day on set, Moynahan described a poignant moment when she and Selleck watched Wahlberg film his last scene. “One of the most memorable aspects of that last day was Tom, who had already wrapped but came back to support Donnie and me,” she recalled.

“We were behind a monitor—I’m getting emotional just thinking about it—and I had my arm around Tom, and he was holding my hands like my own father did,” Moynahan shared. “It was such a moment of gratitude and grace. From the very start, it was like family. There was an unspoken bond of love and respect.”

She continued, “Watching our colleague, our brother, our teammate, finish his final scene was deeply emotional. It wasn’t just about that one scene; every single day was filled with emotion. There were many ‘lasts’ and heartfelt conversations, many of which were with people who have been here since the beginning. It was a time of many hugs and tears, truly a beautiful experience.”

Moynahan also expressed her gratitude to the fans of the show. “Thank you for your unwavering support, for tuning in every Friday night, and for caring about the stories and characters. A special thanks goes to the men and women in law enforcement who risk their lives for us.”
