“Bridget Moynahan Shares Emotional Farewell with Tom Selleck on Final ‘Blue Bloods’ Day After ‘Disheartening’ Cancellation”

The end of “Blue Bloods” marks a challenging time for both the show’s cast and its dedicated fans. After 14 successful seasons, the beloved police procedural is concluding, with the final season premiering on October 18. Bridget Moynahan has opened up about her feelings regarding the “disappointing” end of the series, reflecting on the emotional experiences shared with her co-stars.

Bridget has expressed her sadness over the show’s cancellation, acknowledging that the entire cast is feeling a sense of loss. She noted, “We’ve had such a good time. We all want to be there. It’s a real loss,” emphasizing that the show has been a significant part of their lives for over a decade. “This was our daily lives for 14 years,” she said. “We’ve experienced major life moments together, whether it’s births, deaths, marriages, divorces, illnesses— we’ve had it all.”

One of the most poignant memories for Bridget was her final day on set with Tom Selleck, who plays her character Erin Reagan’s father, Frank Reagan. She recalled a particularly touching moment when Tom, despite having wrapped his final scene, came back to support her and Donnie Wahlberg during their final scene. Bridget described the scene behind the monitor with Tom, saying, “I’m getting choked up as I say this. I had my arm around Tom, and he was holding onto my hands the way my dad did.” She reflected on the deep sense of “love and appreciation and respect” conveyed without words, noting that Tom’s presence and grace made the moment unforgettable.

As the show approaches its final episodes, Bridget reflected on the last days on set, which were filled with “a lot of lasts,” heartfelt conversations, and numerous emotional goodbyes with crew members who have been part of the show since its inception. “It was a lot of hugs and a lot of tears. It was quite beautiful,” she shared.

Bridget also extended her heartfelt gratitude to the show’s viewers for their unwavering support over the years. She expressed her appreciation for the fans who tuned in every Friday night and supported the characters and stories portrayed. Additionally, she acknowledged the real-life law enforcement officers who inspire the show and risk their lives for others.

As the first part of season 14 aired earlier this year, the upcoming episodes will conclude what some consider a truncated final season, with the series finale slated for early December.
