“CBS Reconsiders Decision to Cancel ‘Blue Bloods,’ Report Suggests”

“Blue Bloods” is set to conclude this December, but CBS may be having second thoughts about ending the beloved series. Announced to wrap up after 14 seasons last year, the show has sparked significant disappointment among fans and the cast alike. Tom Selleck has expressed reluctance to bid farewell, and fans have mobilized with petitions to save the show. Despite CBS’s firm decision to end the series, reports suggest the network might be reconsidering its choice.

According to an insider cited by Closer, CBS is exploring possibilities for “Blue Bloods” movies or even the revival of the series. The insider hinted that the network might be regretting its decision, fearing it has “killed the golden goose.” “Blue Bloods” has been a reliable fixture in CBS’s Friday night lineup for nearly its entire run, defying the typical “death slot” stigma associated with that time slot. The absence of the show come midseason 2025 will undoubtedly be felt.

The cast and fans remain hopeful about the show’s future, with Donnie Wahlberg previously hinting at potential developments. The situation mirrors the fate of “S.W.A.T.,” which was canceled and revived multiple times. Many are optimistic that “Blue Bloods” might experience a similar turnaround. If CBS truly regrets its decision, there’s still an opportunity to reverse it, whether through a new season, a spinoff, or a TV movie.

Currently, “Blue Bloods” is scheduled to air its final episodes, starting on Friday, October 18, at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, following the Season 3 premiere of “Fire Country.”
