“Chris Pratt Set to Star in TV Reboot of One of Kevin Costner’s Top Films”

According to a recent report, Kevin Costner’s most underrated film was being adapted into a TV series starring Chris Pratt—but it’s not a Western.

Kevin Costner, widely recognized for his roles in Westerns and epic dramas, is also known for his iconic performance in the 1989 sports film Field of Dreams. In the movie, Costner plays Ray Kinsella, a farmer who builds a baseball field in his cornfield after hearing a mysterious voice. The field becomes a magical place where the ghosts of legendary baseball players come to play.

Despite Costner’s reputation for larger projects and Westerns, Field of Dreams remains a cherished classic, often overlooked amid his more prominent roles. Recently, it was reported that a reboot of Field of Dreams was in development as a TV series for Peacock, with Chris Pratt set to star. Michael Schur, known for creating The Good Place and Parks and Recreation, was spearheading the project.

The show was planned with an impressive $15 million budget per episode, comparable to that of The Mandalorian. Pratt, who had previously played a baseball player in Moneyball, was expected to bring new life to the role. The cast also included notable actors such as Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Nick Offerman, and Andre Braugher.

However, the project faced setbacks when both Pratt and Schur exited. With the departure of its star and the considerable cost involved, Peacock decided to halt production. Although Field of Dreams could have become a major hit, the streaming service chose not to risk further investment without a clear path forward.

The original Field of Dreams film remains a beloved classic, earning critical acclaim and three Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. It has since become a defining entry in the sports genre.
