Developments in Kevin Costner Harassment Case: New Evidence Revealed
Stunt Performer Adds Text Message Evidence to Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Kevin Costner
The legal battle between actor Kevin Costner and stunt performer Devyn LaBella has intensified following the submission of new evidence supporting LaBella’s sexual harassment claims. The stunt performer has amended her lawsuit to include a series of text messages she allegedly exchanged with the production’s intimacy coordinator, offering additional context to her accusations.
The lawsuit stems from an incident during the filming of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, in which LaBella claims she was unexpectedly asked to participate in an unscripted and violent rape scene. LaBella, who was hired as a stunt double for actress Ella Hunt, alleged that she was asked to fill in for Hunt after the actress declined to perform a scene with actor Roger Ivens. According to LaBella, the scene involved Ivens climbing on top of her and aggressively pulling up her skirt—an act she says she did not consent to and was unprepared for.
In the newly added messages, LaBella reached out to intimacy coordinator Celeste Cheney the day after the scene was filmed. One of her messages read:
“I wanted to discuss yesterday’s abomination when we both have a chance… I was put in a really wrong position and it’s really affected me.”
She also questioned Cheney’s absence during the scene and expressed concern about being assigned non-stunt work of a sensitive nature without proper protocols or support.
LaBella alleges that the controversial scene was conducted without clear direction from Costner, including the absence of standard cues such as “action” or “cut.” She claims the experience left her emotionally distressed, describing lingering trauma and symptoms such as anxiety, sleep disturbances, and fear of intimacy. The stunt performer began therapy in June 2023 to cope with the aftermath.
The incident reportedly created a tense atmosphere on set. Upon returning to work after taking time off, LaBella claims she was instructed to stay in her trailer and was excluded from filming activities.
The lawsuit, which was originally filed in May 2025 in the Superior Court of California for Los Angeles County, names Kevin Costner and other producers as defendants. The case is still ongoing, and representatives for Costner have not publicly responded to the latest developments.
In a separate matter, the actor has also made headlines over personal issues involving his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner, who recently became engaged to one of Costner’s former friends, financier Josh Connor. Their relationship has reportedly caused tension within Costner’s social circle.
