“Donnie Wahlberg Celebrates Bittersweet Final Season of Blue Bloods with Cautionary Video”
The final season of Blue Bloods is here, premiering October 18 on CBS. This season serves as a continuation of Season 14, which premiered in February.
Since debuting in 2010, this long-running police procedural drama will conclude with its series finale this December, leaving many cast members, including its stars, expressing their reluctance to say goodbye.
Donnie Wahlberg, one of the show’s leads and strongest supporters, kicked off the final week leading to the premiere with a humorous video. The 55-year-old actor, who portrays Detective Danny Reagan, shared a clip featuring himself and a professional wrestler and actor, engaging in a playful fight. Wahlberg humorously compared it to his feelings as the beloved show approaches its end.
“Danny Reagan dropping into the Blue Bloods ‘Final Season Premiere Week’ like,” he captioned the video, announcing that the last eight episodes start this Friday night at 10 PM. He added a light-hearted “P.S.” warning: “*Please do not try this at home — my friend @jerrytodiscoo is a professional wrestler & an actor, and I am a professional actor, acting like a professional wrestler.” Fans responded to the hilarious clip with comments like: “That disclaimer! Say that fast three times [laughing emoji] Excited and sad for what’s to come,” and “So much professionalism in this post! NYC misses you!”
Other cast members, including Bridget Moynahan and Tom Selleck, have expressed their frustration over CBS’s decision to cancel the show, especially given its impressive ratings over the past 14 years. Back in June, after filming wrapped, Donnie shared an emotional farewell to the series: “Last day of Blue Bloods. I don’t have the words to describe how I feel about today or the last 14 years on this journey, but I am incredibly thankful for every moment.” He concluded with heartfelt gratitude to the cast, crew, guest stars, writers, producers, and everyone involved in the show.
