“Donnie Wahlberg Hints at Blue Bloods’ Future with Cryptic Statement: ‘There Are Things in the Works'”

In November 2023, CBS confirmed that “Blue Bloods” would be concluding. However, recent comments from Donnie Wahlberg suggest that there might be “something awesome” in store for the police drama’s future.

Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan on the show, hinted at potential developments during a New Kids on the Block concert this week. When asked about the show’s future, he said, “We filmed what’s supposed to be the last season of ‘Blue Bloods,’ which will air starting in October. But there might be something else after that. I don’t have any official information yet, but there are things in the works. So maybe something great will come of it. No matter what, I’ll be doing things after ‘Blue Bloods.'”

CBS has confirmed that the show will return with eight final episodes in October and maintains that the series is ending. However, there has been speculation about a possible spin-off focusing on different characters. David Stapf, President of CBS Studios, recently provided an update on the situation. The cancellation of “Blue Bloods” was a significant surprise when it was announced last year. Cast members, including Wahlberg, Tom Selleck, and Bridget Moynahan, have expressed their disappointment.

Bridget Moynahan shared her feelings about the end of the show on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” saying, “I think everyone is really upset and sad, but also happy and content. It’s more about saying goodbye to the people behind the characters. We’ve built a family on set with the cast and crew—many of whom have been with us for 14 years. We’ve shared a lot of life events together.”

Tom Selleck, who plays Frank Reagan, has been vocal about his hopes for the show’s future. In May, he expressed his hope that CBS might reconsider their decision, stating, “I continue to believe that CBS will come to their senses.”
