“Emotional Kevin Costner Film on Netflix Has Viewers in Tears”

A ‘Perfect Movie’ Quietly Added to Netflix Is Leaving Viewers in Tears

Netflix has quietly released a deeply emotional film that’s quickly earning praise from viewers, with many calling it a “breathtaking masterpiece.”

The Art of Racing in the Rain (2019) is a moving American drama based on Garth Stein’s bestselling novel. The film stars This Is Us actor Milo Ventimiglia and Mamma Mia’s Amanda Seyfried, with Yellowstone star Kevin Costner lending his voice to Enzo, a wise and soulful golden retriever.

The story follows Denny (Ventimiglia), a passionate Formula One hopeful who adopts Enzo as a puppy. Through the eyes of his loyal dog, we witness Denny’s professional highs and personal heartbreaks.

As Denny falls for Eve (Seyfried), Enzo initially feels jealous of their bond but eventually grows to love her as part of the family. The couple marries and welcomes a child, forming a seemingly perfect life. However, their happiness is shattered when Eve is diagnosed with brain cancer and tragically dies—an event Enzo witnesses firsthand.

What follows is a bitter custody battle between Denny and Eve’s parents, who question his ability to raise a child while pursuing his racing career. Through it all, Enzo remains a silent observer and source of comfort—until his own health declines in a heartbreaking finale reminiscent of Marley & Me.

In a touching final act, we see Denny years later—now a successful Formula One driver living in Italy with his daughter—when he meets a young racing fan named Enzo, suggesting his beloved dog has returned in human form, just as he had always dreamed.

The film has struck a deep emotional chord with audiences:

“The Art of Racing in the Rain is a breathtaking cinematic masterpiece that seamlessly weaves together the heartwarming bond between a man and his loyal four-legged companion.”

Another viewer wrote:

“I’ve never given a movie a 10/10 rating before, and I’ve seen all the big blockbusters and art house classics. But this one? I knew it was perfect within the first 10 minutes.”

Others praised the cast, the music, and Kevin Costner’s soulful narration:

“I absolutely loved this movie. It’s the best film I’ve seen in a long time. I wouldn’t change a thing.”

“What a rollercoaster—happy, sad, funny, and deeply emotional. It can definitely make you cry.”

Interestingly, despite their shared top billing, Ventimiglia and Costner never worked together on set.

“What a lovely co-star I never got to work with,” Milo previously said, noting that Enzo’s voice was delivered as the dog’s inner monologue—something no human character in the film hears.

The Art of Racing in the Rain is now streaming on Netflix, quietly winning over hearts and leaving viewers reaching for tissues.
