‘Field of Dreams’ will be in Astoria

Friends of Whitey Ford Field to Host Free Outdoor Screening of Field of Dreams

Bring a blanket and settle in under the stars — Field of Dreams is coming to Astoria.

Friends of Whitey Ford Field will host a free outdoor screening of the classic 1989 baseball fantasy film starring Kevin Costner on Friday, August 29 at 8 p.m., at Whitey Ford Field, located on 26th Avenue between First and Second Streets in Astoria.

The event is generously sponsored by Hydro-Québec and the team behind the Champlain Hudson Power Express project.

Field of Dreams, which also stars James Earl Jones, Amy Madigan, Ray Liotta, and Burt Lancaster in his final film role, was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Known for its iconic line — “If you build it, he will come” — the film reminds viewers that even the impossible can come true if you dare to believe.

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and picnic blankets for a relaxing evening of community and cinema on the field.
