“First Look at the Final Season of ‘Yellowstone’ Released for Fans”

“Yellowstone” fans are getting their first glimpse of the final season of the popular Paramount series, which will proceed without Kevin Costner following his departure from the show.

In a newly released 30-second teaser clip on Paramount’s YouTube channel, viewers hear Costner’s voiceover while images of the Dutton family and their ranch flash across the screen. This preview offers a glimpse of what to expect in the second half of Season 5, set to premiere in November—two years after the first half of the season aired, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Costner’s voiceover states, “Legacy … we build something worth having, someone’s going to try and take it.” This is followed by a tense exchange between Jaime Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) and his sister Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly). Jaime warns Beth, “You destroy me, you destroy yourself,” to which Beth replies, “Unlike you, I keep my promises.”

The trailer’s release comes amid speculation that Reilly and co-star Cole Hauser might continue with the show for another season, despite reports that the original Dutton storyline will conclude with the second part of Season 5. Paramount has not yet commented on these rumors.

Costner, known for his roles in “Waterworld” and “Dances with Wolves,” has previously stated that scheduling conflicts were not the reason for his departure. He clarified that issues with the script and production delays due to his involvement in the film “Horizon: An American Saga-Chapter 1,” as well as the strikes, contributed to his exit.

“I offered to work around the schedule,” Costner said. “I even suggested they could kill off my character if that would help.” Despite the circumstances, Costner has expressed openness to returning to the series in the future.

Paramount has since commented on Costner’s departure, acknowledging his significant contribution to the show’s success. “We had hoped to continue working with Kevin, but unfortunately, we couldn’t align our schedules with his. We respect his commitment to his new film series and wish him the best,” the network stated.

“Yellowstone” chronicles the Dutton family, who own the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. The series explores their ongoing conflicts with neighboring entities, including a growing town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park, amid shifting alliances, unresolved mysteries, and enduring struggles.
